“there will be no more boots” declares Peggy Kornegger in 1975’s Anarchism: The Feminist Connection. My initial inspiration was sparked from this poem, an illustrative account of the Earth enacting retribution. I looked at formal wear through the birthday; a moment of celebration and radical growth. Clown references, round silhouettes, and florals combine with protest-garb influences from the European punk scene of the 1970s. My intention was to represent the luxury and femininity the contemporary party girl. Updated standards, deconstructed refinement, and humor framed a muse who lives with the political, environmental, and human concerns of the 21st Century.
